  About The Disk Emporium

Here at The Disk Emporium we can assist with your next CD or DVD project from concept to final production.

If you already have artwork and a master disc (a high quality CDR (not CD-RW) free from scratches or other marks) we can produce quantities from 1-500 discs on our automated duplicator. For quantities above 500 CDs or DVDs, replication would be a more cost effective option (see FAQ pages for more information).

If required we can create a master disc from files such as Powerpoint presentations or Adobe (pdf) files and assist with the disc authoring and production.

We can design a variety of artwork for your media from black on silver CD to stunning full colour printing using our own “C-PRO” process.

We also have a variety of packaging options and can print a variety of tray inserts and booklets to give your product a truly professional image.

Printing Guidelines

We print from Windows not Mac. If you can only supply a Mac file, we will do our best to convert it for PC use.

We print RGB for C-Pro. If you supply CMYK, we will convert it to RGB.

If you need particular PMS colours, we can closely match, but please remember that we're not actually using PMS inks.

We prefer picture files as.TIF. If you can supply .EPS file we can export it as a .TIF.

Artwork should not include any bleed.

We can accept .JPG, .BMP and .PCX if the resolution is suitable - 300dpi. Many JPG and GIFs are only 72dpi and are not suitable for printing.

A .PDF file is good for showing your layout, but we do not print CDs from the PDF file.

Text can be supplied as a Word or Pagemaker doc, or we can type it up for you.

Text by itself should not be saved as a picture file.

If you want to use a particular font, you need to supply the Windows .ttf file.

Text size - minimum 6 point in positive print / 8 point reversed text.

We do not usually take Publisher or PowerPoint files. If that is all you have, we will do our best to extract the pictures/information for use in Pagemaker/Adobe Indesign.

CDs have a non-print area in the middle, please keep this in mind when planning your design.

You don't need to leave a blank area in the middle of your design, the printer automatically leaves it out.
The print area for C-Pro printing is slightly different than for screen printing. Please make sure you use the correct dimensions.

A colour proof from you will help us know if our printing has matched your requirements.

A black & white printout is handy for showing the layout but it does not give us any idea of the colours you would like..

Screen printing onto the CD surface

Screen printing involves preparing films from your artwork. The film maker can accept Windows or Mac files.

Films are usually prepared for CMYK layers. So artwork needs to be CMYK and also needs to be suitable for colour separation.

Films can also be prepared for single colours, eg: green surface with navy text. You can specify the PMS colours that you need.

Artwork should not include any bleed.

The prefered format for graphics is .EPS. Not all .EPS files we receive can be colour separated easily, and often the film maker needs to edit and resave the file before the films can be produced. If the film maker needs to edit your supplied artwork file, we will have to pass his charges on to you - currently $90 per hour (pro rata).

We cannot accept .JPG, .BMP and .PCX files for screenprinting. A .PDF file is good for showing your layout, but films are not usually prepared from PDFs.
