What is the difference between duplication and replication?
Duplication is “burning” data onto the CD/DVD using a laser. This is quick and suited to smaller production runs of audio or data discs.
Replication is “pressing” a disc which involves production of a “glass master” which is then used to manufacture the discs as exact copies of the master disc. These discs are more durable and less resistant to damage by surface scratching. They are used for larger production runs ( more than 500) due to the expense of producing the glass master.
What is the turnaround time for disc production at the Disk Emporium?
For smaller runs (<500 discs) we can usually complete the job within 2 working days following approval of artwork depending on our production schedule.
For jobs requiring “pressing”, usually >500 discs, this usually takes between 7-10 working days after final approval of artwork because of the manufacturing requirements of the “glass master”.
Can I purchase blank discs and cases from Disk Emporium?
Sure. We supply a wide range of cases and packaging solutions to businesses and the general public. You can see our product photograph right here on our website or phone/email us to request a current pricelist.
How much data will fit onto a disc?
•
DVD’s will hold 4.7GB, “dual layer” discs will hold 9.4GB.
•
CD standard will hold 800MB of data or 70 mins audio. Some discs will hold more but may not play in all CD players and manufacturers will not guarantee them, so we do not recommended going above the “red book” industry standard.
•
Mini CDs will hold 100MB of data and “business card” minidiscs will hold approx 45MB depending on the shape chosen.
Of course. We can assist with the initial design of the project from scratch and provide skilled video editing and production and well as authoring the disc and creating menus to make navigation easy.
We provide assistance with artwork and have a team of graphic designers who can take the artwork from concept to production.
We will also help with disc design and packaging and can even distribute to client mailing lists if required.
